Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Department of Integrative Physiology and Pathobiology, Tufts University School of Medicine /Boston, MA

The Alcaide lab combines the areas of immunology, vascular biology and cardiac physiology to study the role of T cell mediated inflammation in acute and chronic inflammatory settings, with a special focus in heart failure. The over-arching goal in the laboratory is to better understand the role of T cell mediated immune responses and the specific pathways regulating T cell trafficking in heart disease and how these can be potentially targeted in therapeutically useful ways.

A highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow is sought with prior experience in either immunology and/or cardiac physiology. Experience with some of the following techniques is desirable: cardiac and immune cell culture, flow cytometry, molecular biology approaches, mouse in vivo models of inflammation and/or heart disease. The successful applicant will work closely with the Principal Investigator and other members of the laboratory. As needed, the individual will be required to independently develop protocols and establish new methodologies in the laboratory.

PhD required.

The Alcaide lab is formed by scientists who are passionate about their research and have interests of applying their immunology and vascular biology knowledge to heart disease. The lab emphasizes the importance of collaborative team work in a friendly and multicultural environment to achieve the research goals.

The IPP department is one of the four basic science departments at Tufts University School of Medicine and is currently home to 18 Research laboratories interested in understanding how immunological, physiological and metabolic pathways interact to produce dysregulated innate and adaptive immune responses in a wide array of diseases. IPP is also the home of state of the art core facilities and actively collaborating with other departments within Tufts University. The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with the principal investigator and with other members of this dynamic environment.
