Cardiovascular Bioengineering and Biomedical Imaging (CABBI)

The CABBI program is housed within the Cardiovascular Research Center at the MGH. The program aims to promote and integrate advances in cardiovascular science and technology to solve major challenges in cardiovascular medicine. We believe that many solutions to these challenges can be found at the interface of technology and biology, and this informs our guiding philosophy. We embrace research focused on the development and application of new technologies over the full landscape of biological and biomedical engineering. Our work ranges from single cells to clinical subjects and includes gene editing, cellular engineering, computational biology, systems modeling, simulation, medicinal chemistry, biomaterials, nanotechnology, biomedical optics, molecular imaging, magnetic resonance, bioinformatics, point-of-care diagnostics and artificial intelligence. We collaborate extensively with other investigators and centers at the MGH and with scientists at the many nearby universities in Boston. The CABBI program aims to leverage the unparalleled resources in the greater Boston area in molecular biology, biotechnology and biomedical engineering to create a fundamental effort in cardiovascular bioengineering within the clinical and translational environment of the MGH.
